Many rural Christians do not have immediate face to face opportunuty to read and reflect on scripture. During the Covid Global Pandemic, together with other colleagues I started regular Sunday services and a weekly Bible Study. Once life was back to normal, we dropped the Sunday services but were asked to continue the Bible studies.
These have developed into interactive weekly Bible-based discussions that are free for anyone to join. I am keen to encourage people to engage with scripture and to let scripture engage with them. Recent sessions include, Ephesians, John's Gospel, the Lord's Prayer, and Galatians.
Meetings are on Tuesday evenings, 19.30 BST online and last about an hour. Afterwards there is an opportunity for prayer.
There is plenty of opportunity to ask questions or to make comments. While most of us use the New International Version, everyone is free to use a version they find helpful. As this is a discussion, rather than a teaching session, some opinions might vary, In the main, it's a great way to make the Bible come alive!
Recordings of past discussions are availabe on YouTube and helpful links will be appearing on this page.

These discussions are conducted on the basis of mutual respect. Send me an email explaining why you would like to participate, a few lines about who you are and a very short summary if you have a personal faith story to share.

A recent discussion looking at Matthew 6:9-15
Take a few moments to consider how Jesus asks us to pray. How does this match your prayers?

A recent discussion exploring Paul's letter to the churches in Galatia.
This was an urgent letter sent to correct a serious error. This is an error that still exists today, though in a slightly different form. The danger of invalidating grace!
Is simply trusting in Jesus' death and resurrection all that is needed for salvation.
Here Paul offers a second supporting argument for the gospel in which faith in Christ is sufficient with nothing added.
Paul records a visit to Jerusalem and the support he received from othe apostles there, approving his ministry to the gentiles and the content of the gspel he preached.

Galatians 2:11-21
Paul reveals a period of hypocricy demonstrating how easy it is to be led astray into believing that keeping the Law is still relevant. He oints out that no one can be justified through keeping the Law of Moses. Righteousness is found through faith in Christ alone as a gift of grace.

Galatians3:1-15
Paul remonstrates with the Christians who have foolishly accepted an alien gospel that is not a gospel. They have abandoned simple trust in Christ and the salvation made possible by simple faith, and now trust in works. This is the fourth development in Paul's argument that salvation - forgiveness of sins and reconciliation to God is through grace and faith alone.
